Wonderfully worn

There is one trend that doesn't seem to have made it to the west of Ireland and that is the worn vintage look. Every home I go into here is full of new furniture, the best word I can think of to describe these interiors is shiny! Everything is brand new.  I guess this is an after effect that started with the Celtic Tiger (the decade of Economic high before we came crashing down with a big bang a few years back).

Because this trend hasn't hit, it is very hard to find any inspiring pieces of vintage or worn furniture. If anyone knows of anywhere on the west coast of Ireland then please do let me know. Anyway, in order for me to get my fix of all things wonderfully worn, I figured I would post a few images of a vintage variety today. Which do you prefer - old or new? I personally like a mix.

Hi :) I like old things, but I don`t paint, and then rub them to make it look old. In my home, I have painted almost everything, and then I live with it, maybe one day I have an accident with my table and THEN my table get a scar of history... Byt things like cups and plate, I prefer new with no damage.
I enjoy a mix of old and new also! If your having trouble finding worn looking furniture you can always buy new and create your own faux finish! My husband and I put together a simple desk, pined it, & sanded down the edges to give it a rustic appeal.

btw, thanks for stopping by my blog, glad you enjoyed the Let Them Eat Cake Party!
I love the old worn out look! We call it shabby chic here in the US - it's hugely popular!! My favorite style for a house for sure :)
